WELCOME TO BEAUTIFUL MARION, OHIO
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
Yorel passed through Marion on his recent trip. This shot seemed to sum up the town. But Marion is also home to the 29th president of the United States, Warren G. Harding. Born near Sparta, Morrow County, Ohio, he became the owner/editor of the Marion Star and became the dark horse Republican candidate for president, winning the 1920 election. Same say it was his handsome appearance that helped him win. Perhaps. But healthy he was not, succumbing in office in 1922 of a stroke or heart attack. There was no autopsy. His wife Flossie blocked this and thus cast suspicion upon herself. Some suppose she may have poisoned him. Why would she do that? Well, he was know to be a lady's man, and many of his appointees were not nice people. Scandel abounded in his administration. Was the motive to prevent his disgrace of an empeachment? He and Flossie are buried here, in Marion, Ohio.
Together forever. |
